Alan N' Heidi : Spring Fever!

So we caught it, and we have it bad! We have the worst, or best depending on how you look at it, case of Spring Fever. We wanted to go somewhere and thought that we hadn't been to Yellowstone in a while, so why not.

In preparation for our mini vacation we bought a little camp stove so we could warm up our lunch. Alan had to test it out before we were up in the wilderness to work out all the kinks. So we did a little fish fry one night out on our porch.

On Saturday morning loaded up the car with the Beins and took off. We had to stop at Walmart first though, because we had no binoculars, and we were hoping to see some lovely birds on our little trip! After picking them up we were truly on the road. We drove for a while, all long thinking that the scenery is getting more snowy then Rexburg. :( this was a sad sight. They still had tons of snow... three - four feet of the darn white stuff. Once we reached the Parks entrance we discovered that it had not yet been open. I should have done my math and realized that it was only the second week of March, the parks West entrance won't open for at least four more weeks. A little saddened about what to do we headed to the Visitors Center to ask around. They said we could take this loop just outside of the park that would be plowed and clear for travel.

Off we went! By now we were a little hungry and ready for lunch. We started looking for a picnic table but its difficult to find them in four feet of snow... so we kept driving, after not too long, we found a quiet road with minimal traffic and set up camp. Right in the middle of the road.

Alan had to test out his new binoculars.

After lunch we continued on our little loop. We were in hopes of seeing some wildlife and spotted a few of these little guys.

When we were almost done with the loop we spotted these. No not more wildlife, but for me they were the highlight of the day.

I'd never seen people do this before, it was like a mix of cross country skiing and hang gliding. It was way cool!

Then we had to take a picture to prove we'd left the state!- Plus its one of my favorite signs to see, but so to see it in my rearview mirror.

On our way back we spotted a moose and had to stop. Being sorta far away the pictures hardly do justice to how large this animal is! Just incredible.

We really enjoyed our time out in the beautiful weather.

We passed this little Root-beer Shack on our way up and decide that we had to stop on our way home. It was really cute and had the yummiest Root-beer Floats ever! We will be going again!
