Bountiful Baskets

We decided to try a Bountiful Basket. I was a little skeptical because the website doesn't specifically say how much food you receive. However we have several friends that have tried it and they all gave us a good report. We wanted to see for ourselves so Monday morning I took the risk and signed up for our first week.

If you don't know what Bountiful Basket is click here...

How does the Bountiful Basket work you say?  On Monday you signup and pay for a basket of fruit and vegetables on the website.  Then according to the schedule for your pickup location you arrive within a twenty minute window to receive your goods.  Ours is the Fatcats movie theater at 7:00 AM Saturday morning.  Then viola you have a Bountiful Basket!

Headed to the location at 7:00 A.M.
This Week's Basket
A nice selection of fruit and veggies
Coconuts, zucchini, mushrooms, apples to name a few.
After we picked up our basket we went to the local grocery store to see if it really was a great savings on produce. We weighed out everything and found it to be a great deal.

The projected savings is about $10.92. Our next big question we have is can we eat all of the produce before it goes bad? Is it worth getting once every two weeks or once a week?

To help answer the first question we used one of the Zucchini's to make Zucchini bread! YUM!! One of our fall favorites.

Lemon zucchini bread, yum!
The next thing we did was crack open (or should I say drill) the coconut. We drank the milk pretty quick. It was so good, makes us want to drink a coconut smoothie on a beach some where.  (December 2014, trip to Hawaii)

The last thing we've used out of our basket so far is the asparagus. We invited some good friends over for dinner this evening and steamed it. So good. I have never had it before so Alan took over the reins and made it.

We hope you all have a great week, and wish us luck in eating the rest of our Bountiful Basket!
