Alan N' Heidi : A Beijing Sunday (Day 4)

The trip to church required two transfers on the Subway and a walk for a few blocks. It wasn’t bad, but took an hour to get there. Church is held in 39-story building with a wine seller and a Dairy Queen in the lobby. We arrived 45mintues early and went to DQ. Each of us ordered a hotdog and ice cream cone. The hotdogs were interesting, to say the least and the ice cream cones were amazing. After Dairy Queen we headed up to church. It was wonderful to attend the meetings. Being here and having the same gospel taught to us as our family 13 hours way is a huge blessing.

Once Church was over we headed back to our motel to change and get lunch. China Horizons gave us 20 RMB for lunch. A few of the other couples and us headed out to find a place to eat. After walking down a few allies the group settled on a little shop/restaurant with a point and pick picture menu. The food was similar to the other restaurants. We ordered one dish that was a little different. It was a stew type dish with meat, vegetables and noodles. However the little chunks of meat had big pieces of bone mixed with them.

After lunch was over we jumped on the Subway and headed to the 2008 Olympic Arena. Here we walked around and took pictures of the birds nest and the different buildings that were used for the games. There were tons of street vendors that wanted us to buy their treasures. The best thing we found was a gentleman selling wire creations. There were all kinds of things from little bikes, dolls, helicopters, motorcycles to traditional Chinese characters.

When we were done walking around we headed back to get ready for the Kong Fu Show. The show took place in the Red Theater. It is a beautiful building and at night the whole thing lights up in red. The show was really amazing, with similar tricks and stunts from the Acrobat show. (It was really hot, and we might have fallen asleep a few times.)
