Day 7: After days of exciting exploration we both knew there was
going to be a less glamorous day of training coming. Luckily it was only one day! The directors of China Horizons went through
more classroom procedures and things to expect when we get to our schools. Alan and I made a good time of it by buying
plenty of tasty snacks at the local convenience store. We had chocolate crème filled sandwiches,
wafers, trail mix, and more. After training was over we went to a very nice
dinner at the restaurant connected to our hotel before packing our belongings
for our early morning departure.

We have mixed feelings about leaving Beijing because we are
finally feeling comfortable navigating the city. The weeklong tour has truly expanded our
understanding of the Chinese people.
Neither of us can say more than hello and thank you but we’re confident
that we’ll enjoy the destined city of Yangzhong. Our biggest concern is getting our laundry to
dry before we have to pack for the seven hour train ride. We’re really missing a clothes dryer to
expedite the process.
Day 8: Leaving Beijing today we boarded a bus to the train station. Upon arriving there we had about an hour wait. While waiting we headed over to McDonalds for breakfast. From there we took the train for 8 hours and then arrived in Nanjing.
From there we met our Liaisons. Who were extremely excited to see us. We got in the schools car and were whisked away to the school and our apartment. The rest of the day was packed with grocery shopping, unpacking and dinner. It was pretty crazy but uneventful day. We are getting settled into our apartment and exploring the city of Yangzhong for the next post!
