Alan N' Heidi : Happy Forth of July!

We had a great holiday weekend full of friends, family, fireworks, and fun. Thursday afternoon we set-off for the Swan Valley where we had camping spots reserved for the Strachans, Bryans, and us. After pitching our tents we headed over the hill to Driggs to see the Balloon Rally. The wind was blowing so only one Balloon was inflated that we could walk inside. After enjoying the quaint little down we ate at the Royal Wolf before heading back to camp. We roasted marshmallows, starbursts, and apple crisp over the fire before Heidi fell asleep in her camp chair and we figured it was time to go to bed. She was quite the trooper to go camping being seven-and-a-half months along in pregnancy.

In the morning we enjoyed some amazing burritos provided by the Bryans and went for a walk to see an eagle's nest and the falls for which the campground was named. The baby eagles didn't give us a show but the falls were pretty. On our way back to Rexburg we stopped at an overlook to eat an ingenious lunch made by the Strachans called walking tacos.

Later that evening we all met in Idaho Falls and watched the fireworks show. The Stevensons joined us with some of their friends and family and we enjoyed a couple rounds of catchphrase while waiting for the show to begin. The firework display was well done and one of the first Alan had been to with coordinating music. When the grand finale ended it looked like the entire city was afoot looking for their vehicle. We waited in traffic for about 30 minutes before making back to the Strachan's apartment to light off Richard's firework collection. It was fun to try the sparklers and fountains he has purchased. It was an enjoyable weekend with lots of good memories. We are so grateful to live in the USA and enjoy so many freedoms each day!
