A couple of weekends ago, we took advantage of the great weather and some homework assignments by combining the two!
After packing a picnic lunch lots of water we hit the road to explore a popular place among the locals. The Ice Caves.
On our way out the caves we decided to stop at the Sand Dunes.
The Sand Dunes are located just north of Rexburg, where a lot of four wheelers and dirt bike riders go to blow off steam from school.
After the sand dunes we headed out to the Ice Caves. The ice caves are an old lava tube. The caves are cold year round and thus remain frozen and are the seen for a very popular adventure.
Unfortunately for us we went on a very hot day. Now the inside of the cave is frozen solid, however the entrance is flooded with about five inches of water then ice. The flooding requires you to balance on rocks and squat down or crawl on all fours to enter the cave. At this point I was five and half months pregnant and crawling on all fours and squatting are not on the top of my movement list. Nor is having great balance we decide against going all the way in.

After we got out of the hole we headed back to the Sand Dunes and had an amazing picnic lunch, provided by Richard and Taresa who accompanied us on our Saturday adventure.
Sunday was another beautiful day and we wanted to take advantage of it. After church we decided to head up to Mesa Falls and take some photos for Alan's photography class.
| Th Lower Falls |
It was super windy at the top of the falls. Alan want to take some photos of me, but the wind and my hair did not like each other.
After we stopped at the lower falls, we headed to the upper ones. You can get much closer to them and it doesn't require a hike.
Plus it was less windy!
After we walked around the falls, there is a little nature trail that we decided to explore. After about five minutes we realized it just lead to a parking lot.... we were sadly disappointed.
Over all it was a perfect weekend. Good friends, great outdoors and spending time with my hubby!
