This past week my cousin and her husband invited us to venture to West Yellowstone with them for the day. We started out early with a picnic lunch packed and loaded in the car. Richard drove most of the way and was very sweet about stopping and making bathroom breaks for me.
The bump.
We didn't have any set plans for the day other then to make it to Old Faithful at some point. Our first stop was some geysers and hot pots. For being the middle of the week the park was packed with tourists.
The colors were incredible.
My handsome husband.
Old Faithful never lets us down. Richard had never been to the park in the summer before and it was neat to see him so excited when it finally erupted.
Old Faithful.
After lunch we drove over to West Thumb and hiked to the overview. It was a short hike, which was perfect for how far along I am.
On the way back Richard decided to test his balance skills and off road the trail a little.
After the hike we drove over to West Yellowstone Lake Visitor Center. I was pretty pooped at this point so Alan and I watched Richard and Taresa play in the water.
We continued on the loop around the park and made a pit stop at Dragons Breath and the Mud Pots.
Dragon's Breath smells really bad (the sulfur), however it was really fun to see the different hot pots. In this area of the park the Bison are really active. It is mating season and they were all over the road.
Mud Pot.
From the Mud Pots and Dragons Breath we headed over to what is called the Grand Canyon of West Yellowstone. It is full of waterfalls and deep canyons very similar to Grand Canyon.
It was a fun day and we couldn't have asked for better surroundings.
We were tired.
